Tapping @ Start up

Lately when i start my truck up in the morning it has a tapping noise for a minute then fades away. i changed to different weights of oil, and a few other things that might help it but still taps. only in the moring, after that wont hear it till next morning.

I agree with Raoul. Forget about it.
You'll pull your hair out trying to fight against the noise. Not worth it.

I wounder if that could be some of the noise that i hear. the metal ball rattled up and down in the new PCV valve. The old one i took off was plastic

this may cause the noise. buy the ford one. If you still have the old ford one just wash it out with some brake wash and reuse it.

Two things come to mind. If it has just started then it is probably another problem. Try using a Motorcraft oil filter and see if that helps. Some of the name brand filters often have failed drain back seals and can cause start up noise.
If it is piston slap then forget it. Mine has been slapping for most of its 178,000 miles without problem.
You should have heard it by now but PS is always worse in the winter with colder temps so you may only just now noticing it...

Cold Temperature????????

what is the temperature when you start your truck in the morning? Do you park your truck outside? I had the problem once but it was like 20 degrees outside. That's the only time I have had the problem.
