Question Vibration

Whole truck vibrates at idle speed.

I have a 2002 F150, Triton 4.6L, with 54000 miles on it. When sitting idle you can feel a constant vibration in the seat. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. If so how can it be resolved.

Thanks.

Auto Trans problem? Converter?

Just throwing some ideas out here...

Does it go away at cold/high idle?

Maybe motor/transmission mounts have worn out?

The only other thing that comes to mind...does it have an automatic transmission?

If so, could this be a torque converter related problem? I looked at http://auto.howstuffworks.com/torque-converter.htm to get a feel for what a converter looks like on the inside.

Are those fins on the fluid pumps brazed?

Maybe a broken braze-point or a busted stator/lockup assembly causing early/partial unlock/lockup cycles?

Jack

Thanks for your reply.

Yes it is an automatic. It only seems to vibrate though when in drive and I have my foot on the brake. When in park and idling the vibration disappears. Very strange.

My 97 used to do that. I think it's from the engine idling roughtly more than anything else. It'll stop if you tap the gas.

Same problem

I have a 2002 f150 with the 4.6 and auto. I have the same idle problems and it goes away when you hit the gas. Has anyone figured out the problem with this yet. It does not pull any codes it just gets a rough idle here and there when you come to a stop. But i will also do it in neutral the odd time.
Any help would be grateful.
Thanks
