My father has a 2002 SCREW and he reports the same mileage with a 4.6, 3.55 and 4x4.

1. Mountains will kill any vehicles gas mileage.
2. What's your driving style?
3. How many miles do you drive a say and do you make frequent stops?
Most of my trips are very short. 3 miles to work, 3 miles to Wal-mart... I know that in town that is going to hurt my mileage. Its the long trips that I dont get. When I drove from Arkansas to Kansas City to see the Chiefs play I got no better than 13 miles to the gallon. Not a good average. And the majority of that trip is on flat ground.
When I went to Alabama last year on vacation the mileage suffered as well. I was running with a Chevy Extended cab loaded down and a Suburban that was loaded down. Both Chevys got 18-20 MPG and I was getting 13 at best. Same on the return trip. I have the 3.55 gears and running 75 and 80 miles an hour it hovers at 2k on the tach. The Suburban had a 350 and the Extended Cab had the smaller engine also a V8 (they have a new designation I can remember).
The best mileage that I ever got was on a trip through the mountains to get a car and pull it back. Got 14.25 mpg. That was after a fellow forum member suggested that I try better to ease into a speed and a little less romping on it. Still following that idea with no real improvement in mileage.
I have an uncle that has a 99' F150 extended cab, 4.6l, 4x4 and he is getting 19-20 on the hwy. Just dont know what I need to do diffferent. One thing that he swears by with every oil change is a can of Restore. I havent tried it yet, but I might as well. Dont see how that would do it, but it seems to work well for him.
