Power mirrors fuse?
Power mirrors fuse?
1998 F-150 XLT - Power mirrors (without signals)
What number is the fuse for the power mirrors? My mirror drivers side stopped working and I believe it's because I had loose wires that shorted - since the passenger side mirror is broken and has wire exposed.
Should I be looking for a blown out fuse, or is some relay of some sort? Thanks

According to my owners manual fuse 4 in the passenger compartment is for the mirrors. It is a 5 amp (tan in color) mini fuse that is located 4 down from the top and next to the row of relays.
I would check that fuse to see if it is blown, but if there are broken and exposed/shorted wires replacing the fuse will not help too much. I would correct the problems with the wiring and then replace the fuse. That being said, if you replace the fuse and do not try to use the passenger mirror until the wiring is fixed you should not blow the fuse.

If the fuse just blows immediately after replacing it then it should be a short in that line correct? So in a 1997 F150 if fuse position 4 5amp fuse blows it should be a short somewhere in the power mirrors, Auto Lamp, Remote Anti-theft, or Key-less entry. How would I check to see which one of those is shorting out the fuse?
