Exclamation engine swap questions

alright.. heres the dilemma.. i bought a 88 f150.. the motor seems to be going ot crap, ive posted on here a few times before and i appreciate the help... i need to drive this thing from seattle to abq , nm ... so it must be running strong

i found someone with 2 engines that i was thinking about doing a motor swap with .. heres the kicker.. it would have to be done within 19 days .. and thats pushing it..

i have ... 88 f150 5.0 efi 4x4 single cab 5 spd manual

he's selling

1. 5.0 with auto tranny - 250

2. 5.8 351 with c-6 - 450

now, i have the 5.0 with a 5spd. i think the conversion from auto to stick would be too hard within that time frame. what would need to be done to change it. new flywheel and some bearing?

also. the 5.8 would it just drop in? or is there a kit i would have to have.. and what about the computer?

i have decent mechanic skills and basic tools

do you guys think this is pheasable as well as worth it.. i was going to take it in to the shop to have this one worked on but thats 78/hr for atleast 2 hrs just to look at it .

help me out here. any suggestions or comments on it or anything i left out would help me out

i appreciate it greatly .. thanks guys

btw.. is there anything youve heard wrong with either of these ?

It's not too bad. Just keep your tranny and change the flywheel and starter (they are different from auto to standard but not by much). You should probably also change the clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and slave cylinder while you have it apart especially if you plan to drive the thing very long. That doesn't sound like enough money. You may do a lot of work and end up worse off than you are now.

Just some thoughts
