Question engine modifications.....

What modifications can i do to my 2001 F150 5.4 engine to gain HP and Torque. I would install a supercharger but I am going to wait on that for a little bit. All advice is appreciated.

Stage 1: chip/tuner, air intake system, and exhaust.

well i'd plan around the chance that you would be eventually putting a S/C on.

Electric fans
maybe some exhaust mods
FTVB (not for power but a must do)
lots of research on which s/c to put on.
then compile a list of must do's to start on the project

Gregg takes a stock valve body and ports and modifies it with the use of different springs and things that are his trade secrets. in all it shortens the time it takes to go from gear to gear the thing that most gear heads love!!!!

It won't gain you HP but adding an improved tranny cooler is a great start. There's no sense in blowing up a tranny with your blown engine

Isn't this what Hypertech Programmer does? reset the shift points? But if this is a tranny cooler then it is definately worth it!!!
Please let me know. Thanks

two different animals.....well three. the FTVB is not a cooler. The cooler i do recommend but again different mod. and the hypertech usually pumps up line pressure and the FTVB is said to be better on a tranny and provides better shifts in a way that only a Ford engineer could develop. I guess i left that out... Gregg works or worked (correct me if i'm wrong) for ford and has worked on the these trannies. He has access to tools and info that most people don't. Just check out how many Lightnings are runing his FB and you'll be assured this is the right way to go.

throw in a set of electric fans and you've covered the basics and the FTVB will shift better if you like quick firm shifts..
Check your manual but you have to run what is recomended which will probably be mercron V

It replaces your current fan with electric fans and is said to give about 15hp. you can search the vendors here.
