Supercharged SCrew
I've been thinking about contributing to the local economy
and wondered if anyone here has supercharged their SCrew. Specifically, I've got a 2003 KR F150 SCrew.
I was wondering:
1) Would Ford be a good place to have the work done?
2) If they did it, would my extended warrantee be affected?
3) About what would the cost be?
4) Would any other mods be required? Suggested?
5) Assuming my driving style stays the same
, what would be the effect on my gas mileage?
I know I can ask my local dealership, but I want some unbiased inputs before I take that step.

I'm pretty sure if you look at your extended warrenty book, it says no superchargrs of any kind unless you got something different than I have..
I think Ford is missing a good opertunity by not offering a 'super tow package' with a positive displacement blower.
I run a Kenne Bell on my Lincoln Mark VII and find it a wonderfull addition for power.
Runs like a factroy installation with the fuel milage about 3 mpg less under normal drive conditions.
My Screw is able to get 17 mpg on a trip and is quite a runner for the weight and 4.6 engine size.
If you do go ahead and make the install, pick a shop that is experienced or buy a kit with total design for bolt on.
You will have to run 93 octane fuel, a trans cooler and should have the trans shift kit as well as a chip to optimize the combo to cover all bases.
Be prepared to spend some money for the whole package..

The reason I asked about Ford doing the work is that Ford warrantees the Lightnings and I wondered if they would warrantee their own aftermarket work on other vehicles.

petersde, i am right down the road from you in Pearland, (my parent live in the Forest of Friendswood)
i put a vortech on my 01 supercrew, i did it after the standard warranty went out . If i were you i would call Tommy Vaughn Ford, they do alot of aftermarket stuff.
my mpg is about the same.
for a new kit i would estimate around $4k give or take
my truck is not out running with corvettes but the power is a big difference espesially in a passing situation, if towing is more your thing i would look at the allen kit.
my first thought is that if you put one on, forget about your warranty.
considering that 93 is really all that is available around here and it is .10 more than 89, plan on running 93 octane, mine will run fine on 89 if i keep the rpms under about 4200 rpm.
