engine swap 95 to 98..... will it work

hey guys, can anyone tell me if a 4.6 engine from a 95 t-bird,will fit in my 98 f150 4x4 4.6 with a 5 speed manual trans,i know i will have to do some swaping of some parts,my main concern i guess would be the bolt pattern for the trans, does anyone know if it would be the same?would there be any other problemsplease help.

Yes it will fit. The major concern is weather your truck has a Romeo or Windsor 4.6 Count the Fly Wheel bolts. The Romeo Engine has 6 and the Windsor has 8. I would Uuse the T-Bird engine as a Short block and bolt on the truck intale manifold.

Important differences. The crank shaft on the windsor has 8 bolt flywheel and the Romeo has 6. The Cam covers will not enterchange. A Windsor Cylinder Head has more bolts to hold the Cam cover. Most Car engines use the Romeo style Engine. I have learned that the Windsor has made Engines for the Romeo plant but they would have used the Romeo style heads and Crank. The Car engines use a different Intake manifold and Throttle body.

Now becasue your truck has a Windsor engine and you are trying to put a Romeo engine in it you will have to use a Romeo flywheel ( 6 bolt). Because the Intake manifold is different on the T-bird engine I would unbolt the intake manifold and use the truck set up on the car engine. This will insure all the cables, Throttle and Cruise Control, line up. You will also have to use the truck exhaust manifolds as the car ones are made ot fit the confines of the T-bird engine bay. Besides the driver side has the EGR bung and I am not sure if the car location will match the truck's location.
