Question 82 straight 6, 4.9 litre hard to start

I have a 1982 Ford F100 with a straight 6 4.9 Litre.

Problem with hard starting, the truck runs smoothly once I get it running but has stalled while driving it.

Problem seems to have started after it ran out of gas a month ago.
I have replaced fuel filter, cleaned the pugs but no luck.

Truck has very low mileage, approximately 40,000 and has sat for a period of a year with being started.

Any suggestiions?

When you changed the filter, was there any sediment in the old one. Older tanks are prone to corrosion, especally when not kept full all of the time. Might have sucked up some junk into the pump and now you have pressure or volume problems. Might want to start with a fuel pressure check.
