I've been getting a code for a bad EGR and decided to take off the egr vavle and take a look. What do you think?

Is the diaphram suppose to be that way? When I suck on the vacumm valve, it does move upward.

1st, welcome to the site from Canyon Lake, Texas! Next, I couldn' get the pic' to open. The EGR problems I've had were with running rough, "sputtering", over all running baddly. Good luck!

 

yes that looks like a clogged egr valve and yes the diaphram is suposed to move when you suck on it. but the valve itself looks like it is full of gunk and prolly wont flow much exhaust gas.

 

Guess I'm off to get a new one today. The computer codes were actually correct. Amazing... <grin>

EDIT: Well, I replaced the EGR valve and the sensor on top and the code for EGR went away, so I guess that was it. Glad that's over with.
