New guy with prob.

First hi, I own a red 2000 F-150 Supercab(Lariat) and I just joined this site/forum today.
My reason for posting is I'm hoping somebody can help me with a prob. I'm having with my truck.
Just in the last few days, my truck has started to idle low and even die/hardly run. Once I get going down the road or rev it up if I'm sitting still, everythings fine.
I did look at some posts to try and get an idea what to look at but didn't find anything regarding my specific year model, so I was wondering if anybody had any ideas?
I was gonna try replacing the fuel filter tomorrow?
Oh yeah, the truck has just under 69k miles and I have replaced the air filter recently but not the f.f.
I was just wondering if I need to do a tune up maybe? Also, I'm getting no service light.
Thanks in advance, Mitch

Changing the fuel filter at recommended intervals never hurts anything. I suspect you are having problems with your IAC (Idle air control) or a possible vacuum leak.

Do you have the 4.6L or the 5.4L engine?

Iagree with temp1 it sounds like your iac valve. it is very simple to take off and clean. just do a search for it and you will find step by step instructions with pics.

Thanks for the replies, I pulled the unit off this morn. and "cleaned" it, which was shootin' some WD in it. Fixed the idling prob. or atleast seems to have, haven't had achance to test drive it. The truck wouldn't even start this morn. so it MUST be the valve. Prob. gonna just replace the thing but thanks again for the replies! Just like this smiley!hehe
