Will this hurt my engine?
Hey everyone I was looking to get a dual exhaust put on my truck and the guy I talked to said that the 4.6L engine i have can't really handle a true dual exhaust because it will overheat it and not be good for the engine. Then I asked about a K&N FIPK and a Hypertech Power Programmer and he said both those also wont work or be good for my engine. So I was wondering if this was all true or if this guy is wrong. Anyone with the 4.6 that has any experience with these things please respond how it worked for you. Thanks
This guy is out of his mind...well, except for the Hypertech..that's a piece of junk. Just make sure you don't go too big on the exhaust and the K&N is great, just a little too pricy I think..I would go with the MAC intake, it's cheaper but still great quality..
hondaman,
If your thinking about an exhaust, FIPK and chip for you Ford truck why not talk to the best? Go to the Computer Chips forum, on this site, and talk to Superchips_Distributor aka Mike Troyer. I'm sure you'll be happy!
Good Luck,
Bill

Maybe he's just uninformed. The crossover pipe, or `X` pipe is definitely a good idea to keep the backpressure equal in the exhaust. Intake, chip, filter and exhaust are some of the best mods that you can do for these engines.

The guy you talked to is complete moron. Intake, exhaust and a tuner are the best mods you can do for these trucks. IMO a dual setup is overkill and you will be much happier with the performance of a single ehxaust. Give the folks at Troyer Performance a call and they will get you setup. Mike is the man for tuning these ford engines.
