Hello all, I need some help.

My check engine light came on so I had it read and got the message "Cylinder 8 misfire". If I were going to go about fixing this myself, what should the steps be? Also, how are the cylinders numbered? Where's 8? I've been pouring through past forums on this site, and have gathered some helpful information, but I have not yet discovered the cylinder numbering.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

A single cylinder misfire is usually a coil pack or sperk plug wire ( depending on your application Cylinders 1-4 are passenger side and 5-8 are drivers side. #1 is front of engine/ passengers. The #8 in question is the furthest back on drivers side. If you have individual coil packs resting atop the plugs, you're probably looking at a new coil and plug for that cylinder. Pull them both, inspect the plug and run the coil on a volt-ohm meter
