Air conditioner not working - remove?

My air has not worked for 2 years and I do not know what is wrong with it. I was thinking of taking the compressor out and putting a smaller belt on. Would this work? Is there anything that can be done to the pulleys on a 4.6 for more power?

i changed a $20 sensor on the accumulator and my a/c has worked ever since. we dont see too many leaks on this style of F-150 but it can happen.

i know you could get 4.2s without a/c but the balt layout on a 4.2 and 4.6 is different. and there are underdrive pulleys avalible for the 4.6 free up maybe 10 hp.
