2000 Ford Expy engine troubles??
2000 Ford Expy engine troubles??
I drive a 2000 Ford Expy, EB. My motor began to tick in February. I thought maybe it was the lifters. At this time my truck only had 36,000 miles on it. I took it my local Ford and they told me it was actually piston slap and my main bearing. I then asked them if they were going to assist me in the repairs since the motor was so new, my warranty had only ran out 1,000 miles ago, etc. They said no. So, then I called the Detriot offices. NO help there either. They told me I could probably get about five more years out of the motor. I then got a price for fixing it and they gave me the amount of right around $6500.00. I have driven my truck ever since and on Saturday morning I felt a rod go, my oil light immediately came on and now, of course, it is in the repair shop to be fixed. Ford won't be fixing it, but it is still going to cost me around $5000.00. Anyone else have this problem? I have heard time and again that the 5.4 are not good motors..wish I would have heard that before I bought the thing..I have talked to a guy who has had his 5.4 replaced in his Expy three times already. This has been at Ford's expense due to him being fortunate enough to realize the problem BEFORE the warranty ran out. If anyone has dealt with this and actually got Ford to do what they should be doing to make things right anyhow, please let me know.
Thanks.
Thanks.
the 5.4 is NOT a bad motor. Ford makes millions of them (they are not just in these trucks) and at numbers like that there will be bad ones (ALL manufacturers have this issue)
I doubt you had a rod blow. it sounds like the classic plug blow out. How did the shop prove to you it was a blown rod?
