Its a 1985 F-150. Im not buying it, it was my first vehicle when i was 15. Ive since traded it in on my current truck, but was curious if it was still in one piece.

Do you know anything about how these reports are done? The reason i ask is that there are some inconsistancies.




The part that bothers me is the mileage....
When i BOUGHT the truck, it had at LEAST 160,000 miles, and when i sold it, it had 177,500 miles.

So, WTF is up with that???

How did they forget to put a "1" in front of 68,000 ???

Thats like 100,000 mile difference.

 

From my understanding they (Carfax) pulls reports from the DMV, Dealer Computers (as every time a car goes in its VIN is entered into the computer), Insurance Companies, etc. Now adays when ever you get anything done to a car its VIN is entered into a computer, and I understand Carfax has access to these. Now if you have proof or rollback, or Discrepancies I beleive Carfax will pay you to provide these to them.

I don't think its fraud....its just a mistyping. They put 68,000 instead of 168,000. I did not give all my repair bills to them, so i still have them, and they all pretty much have the correct mileage of 160,000+.



I was curious how i can track down a name and address of that last title number. That truck can't be worth more than 500 bucks now with over 200,000 miles and it being old. I doubt it looks like it did when i owned it, but it would be nice to have it back.
My sis needs a truck too.....

 

on my 82 bronco the odometer read exept on the tital because it had gone over its mechanical limits. after 99,999 miles it went back to 0. there is no way of telling how many times it rolled over. i could have reported it as 30,000 and it would have showed that on the tital

 

This one had 6 places.

This error is a result of carelessness, thats all.

 

Anyone care to run this VIN again?

Im trying to keep tabs on this, if i ever have enough 'extra' for a project, i will track it down and try to buy it back. SHouldve never sold it.

 

F150online is a Carfax affiliate, so management frowns on this kinda stuff.

It is good to see another Aggie on the forum. Like another poster said going to the DMV would probably be your best bet on running the VIN to see who the truck was last registered to. Your truck brought back memories of a 81 F-100 I had when I went to A&M. I finally sold it a couple of years ago to another Aggie, Class of 63.
