I've run 3 cans of Seafoam through my intake (I get one every 3 months or so - 9 months total) and it smokes everytime... I bet it's pretty clogged up seeing how I have 60k on the odometer. I do notice that it runs better right after I fog the mosquitos.

I've heard of this Seafoam before but I have never seen it here in Nova Scotia, just wondering if this may help my poor gas milage, I've tried just about everything, Its seems the truck needs a tune up every 6months in order to keep it at 12-14mpg, So once I took it to a very popular tune-up shop here and they did their magic and it came out getting 8-10mpg, so I tried this gimmick called Moto-Vac which is suppose to clean out the engine, and it brought it back up to 12-14mpg, but this is a $100 a pop, so now I am in the process of opening up the air flow with K&N, true duals, etc. Is there a web site of some sort about this Seafoam?

It turns out that my DPFE was defective and replaced under warranty. I'll still use Seafoam from time to time to help the 'ol 4.6 with acceleration. I asked the FORD dealer about the 50K mi. warranty on the emission control components (except O2 sensor) that someone had mentioned in another thread. He said they all have varying limited warranties depending on the component and mileage of the vehicle. Of course, being a secret warranty you have to call and ask what they are. The DPFE is 80K mi.

It's been a week and a half since the seafoam application. I haven't driven the truck much because I had knee surgery two days after running it through. To review, I put 1/2 a can through the power brake line, 1/2 a can in the crankcase to try to free a sticky lifter, and another can in a full tank of gas. I took it out and drove it about 15 miles the other night. It started right up and I could notice a difference in acceleration, and this from a very powerful truck. I drove around for a while and then when I stopped at a stop sign, the truck sputtered and died. It kept doing this at idle. When I restarted it I could keep it running by increasing the revs a little bit and shifting into drive when I needed to go. I got home and it didn't sound very good, even at higher revs. The oil pressure and temperature gauges showed nothing out of the ordinary.

I let is cool of for about an hour and went outside and it fired right up and sounded perfect. I haven't taken it out again to see if it does it again.

Could the Seafoam have loosened up some gunk that needs attention or do you think just driving it for a while will cure what ails it?

Any suggestions?

I think I answered my own question. I took it out to day and ran it about 70 on the highway for a half hour or so.

Runs like a new one now.

Where did you add seafoam in the crank case? Through the oil filler tube?
