need help

Ok i want some help on which direction to take and how to do stuff. Im new to the f150 scene but have been into turbo cars for a few years and know my fair share of working on cars. I have an 01 4.6L supercrew. So far i have 20" wheels, 3/4" beltech lowering kit, air intake, throttle body spacer, and a 3" catback exhaust. I am about to put some electric fans on also hopefully this weekend. Now what im wondering is what should i do next? i know a chip is in store but i know nothing about them. I also was wanting to know how much horsepower can the stock motor handle? Can it be supercharged in its stock form? If not what needs done to it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ryan

Welcome ! That sounds like a nice truck. The first choice for performance is usually a chip/tuner. With your combination, the next performance upgrade is installing underdrive pulleys. Installing underdrive pulleys and electric fans at the same time cuts down on work, since many of the same parts are removed. The stock engine can be supercharged. The kits on the market are designed to keep your engine in one piece if you don't increase boost. The Lightning does have lower compression, forged pistons. If you're serious about supercharging, you should know that they generally require a matching intake design, chip tune, and pulley combination. They can also interfere with some electric fan designs.

I would start with an under-drive pulley set and the chip. An FIPK intake or equivalent and a 65mm throttle body will also pump it up. As far as a turbo charger, there are probably a few out there since it's a modular engine and they have after-market turbos for police interceptors and mustangs.

chip and FIPK kits

ASP underdrive pulleys

just a couple of examples

Opec loves you!

Or you could ask Crash! about the recently completed turbo for our trucks. He'll make sure to spend the next week telling you about it. Look in the Superchargers and Turbos forum, pretty cool setup.
