Considering A 1999 F150 4.2 Engine..

Is there anything I need to be aware of with this model. I currently own a 94 f 150 with a 5.0. Is the v6 adequate in a truck of this size? Will I notice a performance drop or increased gas milage going with the v6.

thanks a bunch

I really cant say much because i am not familiar with the v6. We have a 92 f150 with the 5.0 and i have a 99 with the 4.6 and my dad has a 2000 with the 5.4, all similary equipted. My 4.6 is pretty close to the 5.0 for pulling power and everything else. It does have more snap and get up and go granted it is a newer engine. I wouldnt even consider the v6 because it would be way underpowered especially if you ever plan to pull anything..and you never know when u need to pull something. I suggest to at LEAST go with the 4.6....a good reliable motor...but i wish my truck had the 5.4 because that motor has some sack!! Test drive them all and decide for yourself.
