Help! Broken ECU/Connector Bolt!

Alright, about a week ago my truck just sort of decided to give out on me. I managed to stall out near an auto shop, and considering I had no tools on my and was unsure of what it could be I just gave it to them. They told me it was a loose ECU connection, they just tightened it, and it should be fine. Cool, alright. But a few days later it gave out again. Searched the forums and thought my chip may have oxidized. Well, I took out my chip and found out that the ECU was still loose. I tried to tighten it and it didn't want to tighten at all. I took out the battery and battery box and got a good look at it.

The bolt that keeps the wiring harness to the computer was snapped. Not at an easy to remove way, as in the..... um..... "shaft" had broken clean off into the ECU. So I can't even imagine how to get that out, but the wiring harness connector also had cracked. While I'm confused as to how BOTH managed to break, I am also pissed the only time I've brought my truck in to an auto place since about 2 years when I had my rotors turned. So, I'm pissed, but I don't know if I even want to call the auto place. First, I would have to somehow proove it, then they would take my truck away for a few weeks to replace the expensive ECU and the wiring harness. My current fix-it and FUKC it plan was a couple of zip ties around the harness and the ECU.

Anyways.... my main question was if there was any easy solid fix. Also, my quick fix was to keep the ECU in the engine bay instead of mostly in the cab in that slot. Mainly because the slot was small and as you know in a uncomfortable spot. I would prefer to leave it alone for atleast a month cause I've been so pissed about all this crap, but I'm now worried that the ECU may overheat. Anyone with experience or suggestions or anything.

Just For Clearness: Is there any way to fix the bolt, and will the ECU overheat when in the engine compartment?

Thanks to anyone who wants to jump in to help. I'm going to sleep.

I have never used an extractor but I think some of the folks have used something like these methods to extract broken bolts. Maybe the name was an "easy-out" or something.

I have drilled out a broken bolt and tapped it though...

I have no clue about the wiring harness...
