04 w/ 4.6L or 03 w/ 5.4L?

Im in the market for a new truck and have said from day one, if I get rid of mine with the 4.6L my next one would have the 5.4L cause of more hp and torque available.

With that said, Ive been looking hard at 03's with the 5.4L extended cab.

Now one of the biggest dealers in the state is offer the brand new 04 heritage with the 4.6L for the same price of a year old truck with 15,000 miles.

What would you guys do?? Having a brand new truck would be very nice, not sure about the motor choice though

I personally think you should follow your own rule--5.4 to replace old 4.6.

I have a modified 4.6, which is nice, but I really want the hp and torque from the 5.4. Of course the almighty dollar usually makes the final decision for most folks.

Exactly, will have to come down to how bad I want a brand new truck with zero miles on it compared to an 03 with 15,000 miles

Ultimately I'd say your driving style should let you know if you can live with another 4.6, or if you need the 5.4

It's a tough choice. See if you can't haggle the price down on either of them, might make the choice easier. Do you think you really need a 5.4, or would a brand new truck with a smaller engine be more beneficial to you?

Tough call

How are they equipped, about same?
I personally own a 5.4L so I'm bias, haggle the price on the 03 5.4L

Wake up and give your head a shake.

Don't let the new car smell screw you out of the right truck. Tell him to lower the pricve of the 03 or walk. Face it the 4.6 in a truck is weak. Now imagine it in a heavier truck like the 04.

dump the idea of the 4.6, I have a 2002 f-150 with the 5.4, and at time's, it suffers from a lack of go power, thease trucks are 6,000 lbs plus, I don't think your gonna save much in flue ecomony with the 4.6 and it's nice to hook up a trailer and go camping, I would keep your old truck.

Thats right! Had the 04 Heritage for the weekend and it went alright, but not compared to the 5.4. Im not worried about gas either, I wouldnt look at buying a truck if that was the case.

I think I have decided to go with a 2003 5.4L well equipped with low miles on it instead of buying the new 2004 with 40 miles on it(event though it is the exact truck I want...color options, etc with the exception of the bigger motor) New would be nice, but not worth it if I wish I had gone with the bigger motor.
