Unhappy Loss of Power over 70

This started about four days ago. I have a 1999 F150. Going up an incline with Cruise Control on, I began to loose power. The Engine sounded like it was trying to speed up, but I was was slowing down. I took off Cruise and tried flooring the excelerater, but had trouble going over the bridge. I have had repeated problems since then on any bridge that I try to cross. I have to slow down on the approache and slowly excelerate over the incline. Then yesterday it started kicking the Cruise off even on the smallest incline. And going over every incline, I loose speed. What could be causing this? I have checked my air filter and it is clean.

Coould it be transmission related. Does the engine slow down too or do you just loose speed. Might need to service your fuel filter.

I am not sure if it is tranny related. I purchased and plan to change fuel filter today. Also, bought a tranny treatment and a engine treatment. It seems that when I loose speed going up the incline, I can hear the engine trying to speed up.
