engine stalling

Intermittent stalling

Have a 96 f-150, 5.8 ho with 100,000 mi.. I have replaced the ecm, but still get stalling, and intermittent starting problems. No pattern in the stalling, can happen at 60mph, or city traffic conditions. Starting is the same. If it doesn't kick off, just leave it for five or ten minutes, and it starts like a champ. Have jerk when the check engine light goes on, but truck does not stall. Then truck runs great until light goes off, then process starts again. suggestions appreciated, Please!!!!!!!!

One vote for "Clean the MAF" or "Change Fuel Filter".

Since the CEL is coming on, go have the codes read.

There is no point in guessing what is going on when the computer is sitting there waiting to tell you what it thinks is wrong.

Anything else is a waste of time or money. Looks like you have already started down that road by swapping the ECM. Turn around, go back, and start over and do it right.

Write down the exact code numbers and post them here for assistance in diagositics. Do not let an autoparts store just give you a verbal description of the code and then sell you parts without knowing what the exact codes are.

Thanks guys, for the info. This thing is driving me batty.
I changed the ecm because of this problem. I had it checked out and it was faulty. I am now having the codes read, as you suggested Steve. I hope to have some info soon. I will look at the maf, and fuel filter. I'll keep you posted and let you know what materializes. I appreciate your suggestions.
