Hard on the engine?

I'm new here and I love this place, anyway, I drive an F-150 SuperCrew Fx4 with duel pipes, I was wondering since my right foot is quite heavy, how high can I run the RPM's without damaging the engine or the transmission? Also forgot to add it's a 5.4 liter. I don't know much about engines at all.

Yeah, I would like to know also as my middle name is "WOT".

Hell, here is a picture of my transmission pan magnet when I changed the fluid at 39,000 miles before I started driving it hard...

You're creating more force on the parts, making them move faster increasing wear, and creating more heat all of which will shorten any moving part's life.

Ford, in their infinite wisdom and foresite has installed rev limiters for curious critters such as yourself. If you have an automatic, and you floor it, you are pretty much ALWAYS in a safe rpm. That is all under control by parts and people other than the driver. Thats why there is no red line on your tach......at least the 97 model has no red line....i think....maybe the newer ones do...hell, i dont really know now. Either way, its decorative. All this means is that you wont ruin your engine.....at least not right away. It WILL however decrease its overall life.

As for you TEMP1, arent you glad that stuff isnt coarsing thru your tranny?
