backfire? and now it has a mis>

a few weeks ago i bought fuel for my truck , it ran fine when i pulled in the gas station , after i filled both tanks . the truck didn't want to start up. after several tries . it finaly started and backfired . and blew apart two spanking new muffs . i dumped a couple of bottles of water remover in the fuel tanks . i drove the truck home. replaced the blown intake gasket. . but still not running right, the timing is good . could a backfire crack the intack or the heads? any help or tips on what to do?

also

also i failed to mention that when driving the miss fades away above 45mph. no loss of power. but i noticed i now get 8 miles per gal. compared to the 10 mpg before. so far ive replaced the coil. dist cap ,rotor, plugs and wires. . the truck doesn't run hot . but i see steem coming from the right tail pipe. and 3rd cyl has the miss . i didn't do a compression check yet. but will next weekend.also it has a holley aftermarket carb. and an edelbrock intake on it .
