90k miles ???????????????
90k miles ???????????????
98 4.6lt 4x4 supercab just reaching 90k miles. already replaced the alternator and fan belt. whats next? ( will go bad ) should i not do long drives..
also when i use lower octane than 92 i get pinging, i do have the hypertech programmer but there was pinging before that.
also when do i change my spark plugs and wires and what do you recommend. i kind of tried to pull the wires off but they seemed to be sealed in the block can i do this myself and do i need a special tool to pull the wires off.
i want to do pure synthetic oil and what oil filter should i use.
i want pure performance more hp and torque. for these many miles should i start taking it easy on the truck. i do drive the truck likes its a hot rod. but i dont thrash it. can anyone answer these problems? thanks

Keep up the service especally trans and rear end. The plugs and wires should prob. both be replaced so if you damage the wires taking them off on real penality. I had over 200k miles on my 4.6l with only an alternator going bad( around 100k mi)
You will get all sorts of advice on oil here. most everything I have read or heard has told me that switching over to syn. oil can be done anytime and going back and forth has no real adverse affects. I am sure someone else will chime in and may or may not agree.
Driving hard will of course aggravate problems quicker and going easy will surely give you added relaibility over the long haul. But what fun is that.
Enjoy!

Change the plugs and wires. That is about all I have done.
I had a h*ll of a time with the plug boots being sealed in to the block. I pulled and pulled and pulled! Eventually I focused on turning (twisting) the boot to break the seal. I wasn't worried about damaging the wires - I was going to replace - but I was worried about tearing the boot and leaving half behind (especially in #4, waaaay back at the back!
Good luck
