Question Engine Swap help!

I have searched the threads and found many people that have swapped engines but I have been unable to find the answers to a few questions. I have a 97' F150 with a 4.2L and manual transmission. It's payed for, I'm keeping it, and I do not want to invest in a new truck. I want to swap the engine (and tranny if I have to) to either a 4.6L or preferrably 5.4L.

I have found info on the 4.6 to 5.4 swap but nothing for the 4.2L. Since I have a manual transmission I'm not sure if the 5.4L option was even produced with a manual transmission. Sure I'd love to go automatic but I don't want to get into replacing the steering column.

Can you swap up from the 4.2L?
Did they make the 5.4L with manual transmission?
Is there a big difference in mounts between the V6 and V8?

Can this be done?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The rest, I don't know about, but one thing I do know is that the 5.4 was NEVER available with a manual in light duty applications. Supposedly, the trans/clutch couldn't handle the torque. That is also why 5.4 trucks have the heavy duty 9.75" rear axle, whereas the 4.2/4.6 trucks have the 8.8. Just don't seem right to me.
As a side note, I asked a friend of mine who works at the dealer about this very subject, and he said that it would be more trouble than I would want to get into.
With that said, I have the address to a thread on another forum where a guy swapped a 4 cam 5.4 from a Navigator into an Expedition. Not quite the same, but the point I am trying to make is that a Nav. engine isn't much more in price over a used 2 cam.
Something to ponder.
