Coils

I have a 2000 F150 5.4 . The truck started missing the other day, check engine soon light is NOT on, and a friend suggested the problem may be a coil. I went to Autozone and bought a coil ($52) and thought it would be a good time to change the plugs too. 42000 miles. Well, several hours later and a lot of cussing and cut knuckles, and now the truck runs better but I never found out which coil was bad. So I put all of the original parts back on the truck. The problem now is my check engine light is ON. Is there a way to find out the problem without taking it to the dealer? ($100 right off the bat!) If anyone can help let me know. Thanks

From: oak harbor, wa / brookings, or
been bealing with this problem for a while. call your local autoparts supply stores and askm if they do readings. i know autozone(non-cali), shucks, do them.

i would suggest you do a search on this site for missing, pinging and the 5.4l. you will be suprised at what weve already discused and the knowledge thats available. we just ask that you do a little homework first. the knowledge you seek is probly already there.

happy wrenching and remember your not alone, were all in this together.

Thanks for the reply. I went out to take my kids to school this morning, and the "check engine soon" light was OFF. The truck is running better than ever. I don't know what happened and I'm not asking! Ha Ha! Thanks
