Question Thermostat Question???

I have a 2001 4x4 with a 4.6 auto tranny. I have installed the new 1715 micro tunner and a K&N fipk intake. I was wondering if the thermostat needs to be changed or is the stock one fine????

Stck with the stock temp T-Stat.
The engine is at peak when running at that temp ( ~ 210* ).

If you are thinking of putting in a 180* T-Stat on a N/A engine, don't bother, you can actually loose performance by running the engine too cold, is what I have read on here ( both from Coil based engines, and COPs ).

The tune is made to work with a majority stock engine so you are good to go.

Good luck, and enjoy the new mod, also watch you MPG drop due to having your foot in it all the time ( that is what I noticed still to this day ).

Actually I did not know this until JUL-02 when putting electric fans on for the first time. I thought that 202* was too warm, but that is based upon older engine designs.

Mike Troyer is the one that emparted that knowledge onto us :

Who would have thought that 210* is a good palce to run an enigne temp ?? I would not have until it was explained why.
