Unhappy head gasket problem? HELP!

87 F150 straight 6

antifreeze disappearing, probably mostly out tailpipe but some boils over -- engine does not overheat

high kms, probably head gasket? big or small problem?

advice, how to-, place to find info on procedure?


thanks for any info you can offer

It can become a big problem, but straight 6's are relatively easy to replace.

Have you performed a compression test or have you had the coolant tested for petroleum distillates? One or both will verify a blown head gasket.

Alldata online is a good resource as well as a Chilton's repair manual.
