300,000
300,000
Well - My 1997 5.4 F150 Lariat just rolled over 300,000! I'll have had her 4 years on 2 FEB 04. I've had to replace (4) O2 sensors (two were mechanics fault), Radiator, ABS speed sensor on front, and Lower ball joints. We also did cat converters @ 220,000, but did REALLY need it. Other than that - just plugs, tires, filters, oil, etc. I have used nothing but Wal-mart Super Tech 5-30 oil and Fram filters (every 3000) - FINALLY got a deffinate answer (you all probably allready know!) Super Tech oil IS made by Quaker State. I'm looking forward to another 300,000!
Congratulations
I have a 97 4x4 5.4 with 289k. I have just done the normal maintenance myself and have had no problems other than the #4 coil getting wet from the heater hose and the infamous PCV Elbow. Both common problems, so I feel lucky. By far the best vehicle I've ever owned.

Not to rain on your parade. I had 259047 on my 1997 4.2L. Check out http://www.leakingfords.com You may be fine, but mine ran great until I bent a rod.

Nice. How many times did you have to change the lower balljoints? Mine went out at 90,000 miles or so. Have you had the piston slap and if so when did it start. Mine started at 93,000 or so and wondering how long I have. 109,000 now. Hope I can do as well as you.
Quaker State used to produce Super Tech oil but is not the current manufacturer of it. The plant that produced the oil was shut down as part of the buyout of Pennzoil-Quaker State by Shell.
Super-Tech is now Distributed by Warren, which also produces the Sears Spectrum brand and Mag-1 Lubricants.
The joy of a non-brand name product - it always goes to the low bidder, so one never really knows where it will be made.

Ball Joints and Super Tech
Well- replaced the lower ball joints @ 210,000, no piston slap as of yet and - called Wal-mart AND Quaker State - as of 30 JAN 04 - BOTH said Quaker State still produces Super Tech oils ( not that it matters - I'll still use it anyway ).
