Question Remanufactured break-in period...?

Just got a 4.6L reman put in the truck after it died 3 weeks ago.

The mechanic just says to change the oil after 500 miles...didn't say anything about driving speed up until then.

Is there anything else I should know about the break-in period so I can make sure this engine stays in the best condition possible?

Thanks...

Just drive normally and it should be fine.
Things you shouldn't really do during the break-in are...

Idle for long periods
Use for extremely short journeys
Lug the engine (if you have a manual)
Tow

Once the rings have broken in, it will be OK.

If you don't mind post what that reman cost installed. I drive about 50,000 miles a year and am curious about price to install a new motor or trade at high mileage.

Cost me about $2600 for the engine from Jasper. charged $750 for installation. Cough up a few more $$$ for misc necessities and taxes and I put about $3800 into it.

Don't use syn. oil for the first little while or it will take a longer time to break in. Drive normally, don't tow too much for the first 1000 km.
