ps whining

its been really cold here latley, when i start the f150 in the morning, the ps really screams, sometimes i just touch the wheel a bit and it stops, somtimes it goes on for a while. is there thinner fluid for cold weather? would fresh fluid help? i must be anoying my neighbors......again...anyways, 01 5.4 4wd if it matters. thanks for any ideas.
ps cold was -8f this am.
glad i sold my diesel!

swap the fluid and try a bottle of lucas power steering additive. The pump shouldn't be going out this soon, it may just be reacting to your bitter cold.

I hit submit before I was through. You can also swap your fluid and use a synthetic that wont foam and it will hush it up within a day. Royal Purple MAX-EX is a great synthetic PS fluid.
