My 01 supercrew with 5.4 seems to race up to about 2000-2500 rpm's on a cold start. It settles down to abut 1200 immediately and then down to about 7-800 after about 30 seconds. I was just wondering if anybody elses does this? It can't be good for an essentially dry cylinder wall.

 

My truck and car both do that and I don't care for it either.

I asked around at work to see if other trucks did it and the other guys said theirs do it too.

 

It's normal.

Mine does it as well.

 

Perfectly normal. Both of my Supercrews did the same thing.
