How do you....

How do you get the o2 sensor (bank 1) out. It's the one before the CAT, passenger side just down from engine. There doesn't appear to be any room to get tools in there. Can someone who's done this please shed some light on this. Tools used & how they got it in there.

1997 F150 5.4L

Auto Zone pulled P0133 (O2 sensor) & P1131 (Fuel Air Metering) and I'm going to start on the O2 sensor and see if this helps.

You can rent a tool from AutoZone to take the O2 sensors off. You're having the same problem that I did just finding room to get the tool in and the part out. I ended up just using a regular box end wrench and moving about 1/16 turn to findally get it out.

Good luck

It was many months ago that I did mine but I think on that one I came in from over slightly behind the tire and was able to get to it.
Also may have tried it from below and just found the opening to get to it from.

Not sure if this helps but I don't recall it being that hard to get to

Good luck
Stan

jvangel,

Before you possibly waste your time and money replacing the O2 sensor. You may want to clean your MAFs and check for Vacuum leaks.

I did a search for you. PO133

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ighlight=PO133

and P1131

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ighlight=p1131

Check it out.
