After I fix the cylinder head is it ok to reuse the new headgasket that I had put on the first time or should I get a new one? I know I have to get new head bolts but wasn't sure about the gasket. What about the intake manifold gasket, do I need to get new of those too?

If it was me, I would get a new head gasket.

Hopefully this next time will be the last and I would want a fresh gasket. If would really be bad if you a leak down the road and had to do this all over again b/c you re-used a gasket.

Do you have any ideas why that head didn't get oil?

If the valves were pushed back into the head even if oil was getting to the head the lash adjusters would have been pushed till they colapse and jam, then the valves get bent. If that is the case the headwill have to be examened to make sure it did not crack and that the valve guides are still intact.

EDIT: The book says to discard the gasket.

I also have a '99 F-150 4x4 with 70,000. My passenger side started leaking oil a couple of days ago......I've been reading LOTS of these post that are doing the same. FORD should do something about this. It's not just coincidence....?!?

Yep - I think the original gaskets had three layers. The new ones have 4 layers plus some additional improvements.

Is it okay to re-use the rest of the gaskets? I just got mine back from the PI head switch-out and they used the same ones for all but the head gasket.

FloppyJoe -As long as you aren't too rough with the front cover, intake manifold-cylinder head and valve cover gaskets, they are all reusable.

How does the truck run?

Yeah, i got it all figured out and it is running like a champ now. It seems as though when I put the timing chain back on I had the timing off on the right side and bent all four intake valves. When I was pulling the valves one of the valve guides came off also, so I had a machine shop do a valve job for me. Thanks so much for all of the help you gave me along the way.
