I did the odometer trick and it should codes 6518 d262 9202. I not sure if any of that relates though.

Ok...I went and pulled the first plug on each side of the engine and watched to see if I got I spark when I cranked the engine and there wasn't any spark on either plug. What would be my first means of correcting this?

the d262 and 9202 are okay, and I can't find the 6518 anywhere.

Hey this happened to me once when my alarm got stuck in a crazy mode. It was keeping it from starting as if somebody was trying to steal it. Pull all the fuses for that alarm and try it

I didn't work on it at all last night, I was tired and frustrated. Went out this morning and tried to crank it and see if I got a spark. I have the tow first spark plugs out on each side of the engine checking for the spark. I didn't see a spark, but it sounded like the engine backfired or something and there was smoke coming from the right side of the engine.

Can anyone help?

update:

I took my wife to work this morning so I could keep her Expy here at the house, and when I got back I tried to start it again, and heard a pop but still didn't fire. I immediatley tried to start it again and it just cranked and cranked. When I went back around front I saw smoke coming up from the passenger side of the engine and it smelled like something had been burning.

car,

How did you test for spark? Please describe what you did. Who cranked the engine over while you looked for a spark? Did you ground the plugs when you tested?

When I tested for spark I took out the coil pack then the spark plug and plugged the spark plug back into the boot of the coil pack and made sure that the coil pack was connected. I then had my wife turn the starter while I watched the plugs.

Is that not how you should do it?

I've just started taking everything back apart hoping to catch something. I've got everything off but the heads, now.

If the plugs are not touching engine metal they will not fire. They have to be grounded to complete the circuit. Do not hold the plug with your bare hands or it might ground through your body.

Ok, so lets rule out that I wasn't getting a spark, then what do you think was causing the truck not to start.

If the truck was running before then I would suspect a connector somewhere that is not connected or one of its pins was bent on and it is not making proper contact. If you did not reconnect the Fuel lines you would smell the gas and you would be posting about the lovely flames that shot out of the engine compartment. If half of the injectors are not connected that will casue a no start. You don't have any parts left over? You do have gas in the tank? Try pressing the reset on the Fuel shut off switch. If you have a chip remove it. Try starting it with the gas pedal all the way to the floor.

carF150 - how did you relieve the fuel pressure prior to disconnecting the fuel rail?

I didn't relieve the fuel pressor. I just let it run out of the fuel line when I disconnected the injectors.
