Strange stalling problem
Hi, I have a 1990 F-150, and I have had a strange problem with it stalling at odd times. It starts up from cold just fine, but sometimes, as soon as I pu it in gear, it stalls and won't start again for 20-30 or more minutes. When it starts again, it usually idles rough or erratically. The other day it stalled as I started off from a busy intersection and a sheriff had to push it out of the way untill I could start it again. Really embarrassing.
Has anyone ever heard of this or had this problem? The battery is a brand new Interstate, and it seems like the spark is ok. Like I said, cold starts are fine, as are starts when the engine is really hot. It seems like the problem is when the enigne is only warm, though there have been exceptions to that too. It has never stalled while I'm driving and giving it gas, only when I start from a stop.
Any ideas?
Thanks to anyone who replies.

Sounds like a classic case of vapor lock. Might have a vacuum leak or incorrect vacuum hoses. Other things that the manual suggests are: Dirty Air Filter, Bad Engine Ground, Egine Control System Malfunction, Leaking EGR, Plugged PCV, Bad Fuel Pump, Clogged Fuel Filter, Leaking Head Gasket, Clogged Fuel Injectors. etc....
