1994 F150 302 SD or MAF System
I have a 1994 f150 4wd auto with a 302, it has 48,000 miles on it. It sounds like it has a lifter ticking, so I am going to put new lifters and a E303 cam in it to get a little more hp, It's a dog on take off with a 3000lb bass boat behind it. How can you tell weather it is a speed density or a mass air flow system. I have read that you need to convert a SD system to a MAF system to gain performance. Thanks for the info.

You may want to do some research on the cam selection on the market for our trucks. I believe the E303 cam is from a Mustang and with that you will not get the same amount of low-end torque as you have now. This will make the truck even more of a dog on take off. Look into a B303, it should have be the cam out a Lightning and it will give you a better overall performance compared to the current cam in your truck. Don't take my word on this cam because there is tons of different cam profiles on the market this days to help with the performance of your truck.
See the picture below for a mass-air flow sensor, on mine it is attached to the K&N Filter on the right and at the end of the black air tube.
