Talking Air Modifications

I was looking at www.ford150.net and saw the HOW-TO ARTICALS about Air box modifications and Air intake sileincer mod.
and then took my saw and did it! On the way home I noticed that it sounds good when you stand on it. Now I wonder if there is a down side to this modification?

Thumbs up

Maybe gas mileage? From putting your foot down to hear that sound

Seriously though, you might notice notice a slight drop in low speed power, due to sucking warm underhood air. It's not really that bad, and usually clears up once you begin moving over 5-10 mph. Something else that helps too, is to yank the rubber snorkel off the end of the air box. Depends on how much of the box you actually cut out. I pulled mine off, and used a 5 or 6 inch length of three inch exhaust pipe to replace it. It slips right on snugly without too much coaxing, and made quite a change. I have an uncut filter box though.,,,,98
