Question DPFE Sensor???

I've read posts here that say they bought a new DPFE sensor at NAPA. I've tried NAPA and O'Riely's and neither one could find it.

Do I need to ask for something besides a DPFE sensor or would someone happen to have the NAPA part#.
I'm tired of paying $70 at the dealer for these things.

Thanks,
JDBob

JDBob,

I bought mine online 3 weeks ago for $57.02 (list price is $76.02) from Owen Scarff Ford in Kent, WA....here's their website:

https://www.1stfordparts.com/partscat.html

Enter your vehicle year, make, model and then select:
"Emission System" then "Pressure feedback sensor" in the left-hand margin...the part detail will appear on the right side.

I asked them to rush the parts to me and they sent it Air Express and I had it in 2 business days...no shipping charge...no tax to me in California. They're my dealer from now on for non-priority parts.

Regards,
Kevin

It is located on the other end of the two hoses that come off the exhaust on the left side of the engine.

It may be plastic or metal depending on the year and engine you have.

Testing is requires a multi meter and measuring the voltage and changes occouring in voltage.

There is a really good article some where on this board for testing the DPFE.

the DPFE monitors the exhaust gas, which then sends a signal to the pcm. the pcm then determines the amount of voltage to send the to the EVR solenoid, which will open up the EGR valve to the correct amount. Too much EGR flow will cause a rough idle and lose of power.

to test you EGR valve, remove the vacuum line from the top and put on a piece of aquarim tubing. crank the truck, and suck on the end of the tubing. the truck should start to stubble and sputter. A faulty DPFE sensor will have the same affect, but so will a faulty PCV valve.
