Unhappy Power steering whine

I'm new. I've got a 03 supercrew lariat w/5.4. At around 1500
rpm I've been getting excess whining from pump. Went to Ford
and they found t.s.b. for my mfg. date. Ford recolcked the pump.
Still loud. Ford replaced w/new. The new pump is even louder. I've
noticed alot of 03 pumps are loud but pre 03 are alot quieter. Did
they make a change to steering on 03 models? The noise is quite
noticable in the cab even w/new exhaust sys. & radio on. Anyone
else experiancing this problem? Did not notice this noise on my
brother's 01 Expedition(same driveline) or my fathers 01 f-150
4.6. It's really starting to bother me. I know some of Fords pumps
used to be noisy but this a totally different style of pump.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this problem

I had the whine with my power steering pump, '03 F-150 built 9/02. I had complained from day one, (I purchased 11/1/02), to the dealer I purchased from and he gave the usually story, "sounds normal, they all do that".

Well I didn't believe him and I took it to another dealer that went through the hoops for me, (with a factory rep and engineer) and they came out with the "re-clock" fix.

I had this finally done around April of this year and my whine went away completely. I don't know if my truck caused that T.S.B. to be issued or not, (I don't think there was one then), but either way, that is what corrected mine.

Here is the original thread from when I was having the problem: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...steering+whine

Good luck!

Both my other 150's have done it....

I haven't noticed it on this one, but I'm probably used to it.

Thanks for the reply. I had an 03 H.D. @ my body shop & checked
it out for my self. No whine at all. Some do & some don't. It's
probably mfg. tolerance diference or different mfg. alltogether.
I'll put up with the whine for a while but I'll be back to the Ford
dealer again. I know the sound is louder than normal. Just
wanted to know if anyone else was having same problem. I'm
glad to know It's not in my head.

No one said there was a "recall". There is none.

See the referenced thread for the solution (near the end of the thread).
