5-20 and stick with the Motorcraft filter. The new Mobil 0-20 also meets the Ford specs if you want to go synthetic.

Says 5w-20 is recommended. 5W-30 and 10w-30 are "optional"

you can also go here: https://myford.fordvehicles.com and get alot of info specific to your truck.

Another suggestion, stay away from Quickie type oil change places unless you watch every thing they do.

Tex - we used to take my car to an oil lube place, but then they somehow managed to crack the oil filter housing on it. Oil would not stay for long, and they (of course) would not take the blame (the oil leak started about a day or 2 after it was changed).

Needless to say, I change the oil myself now.

Rajuncajun & Johngs,

I had several problems with those Quickie places, I change the oil myself on the F150 and take the Mustang to the dealer as it is way too low for me to get under it. Glad to hear you change your own.

The car is also low to the ground, so usually I have to jack it up, remove the plug, then lower it again...PITA, but I know the job is getting done right. I also do my '97 F150 myself (though its a helluva lot easier than the car, no jacking required )

Our F250 and Expy go to the dealership though.
