Bought Excursion--OIL ??

Just bought a 2000 V--10 Excursion, what kind of OIL did ford recomend ?

Look in your owners manuel or call the dealership.

The V10 is just a 5.4 with two more cylinders. Ford's oil recommendation is 5w30 in that years owners manual.

Bowing to pressure from environmental groups FoMoCo recommends vegetable oil (I use Wesson), but many people swear by peanut oil in the South.

Only Amsoil 0W-30 is appropriate for that engine, unless you want to use Mororcraft 5W-20, or Castrol, or Mobil 1, or Synergyn 5W-30, or Swepco 5W-30 (Ft. Worth TX), or Pennzoil 5W-30, or Havoline, or Chevron, or Phillips 66, or Shell, or Texaco, or Redline, or Royal Purple, or .....

The book calls for 5w20, but I think most folks are running 5w30.
