Exclamation blue exhaust smoke

I just bought a 99' f-150 sport with the 4.6 engine. It only has about 32,000 miles on it and it has been well taken care of. The other day i took off from an intersection stepping on the gas pretty hard and i was told i had bluish smoke coming from my exhaust. i have dual exhaust on but i would like to know what this could mean and if it is something to worry about. The person said it wasnt a whole lot but enough to notice it. They oil level is fine and everything else seems to be aight. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Exclamation Been there!

trytokeepup- This sounds like the same problem I had with an 01 4.6 4x4. I bought the truck new and the second day I had it I stepped on the gas and a big cloud of blue smoke out the tailpipe. The dealer fooled around with it until the warranty expired and never did find out what the trouble was. The service tech believed the smoke was unburned fuel. I read a post somewhere that the computer might go into granny mode and then a sudden change in driving habits throws it off somehow- not an expert in these things just my two cents worth. Keep us posted on how this turnes out I would be interested to know

Blue smoke is typically the result of burning oil.

Well thanx for the help. I think im going to take it back into the dealership and see what they think. Maybe i just need to get my computer chip upgraded or something like that. Hopefully we can work something out since i just bought it too. What did you end up doing to your truck?
