Need help, wife's GM won't start

My FORD runs great though

The GM has 60k on it. When I try to fire it up nothing happens, no noise. I thought it might be the battery, but the lights still come on. Any help would be much appreciated.

A little more info maybe? GM covers a lot of models and about 100 years...

Neutral safety switch, starter solenoid, ignition switch, battery cable to the starter,

It could be any of the above problems that closer9 stated, but it could also be a problem with GM's troublesome V.A.T. system. Which, if malfunctions, causes the starter to be inoperatable. Need to know exact year & model to know for sure what system it has. provided that is does indeed have a anti-theft system.
