Question Whistle from intake?

I just bought a 1998 F150 Ext Cab StyleSide Lariat. it has a powerdine spacer and a K&N airfilter and when I accelerate i can hear a whistle that sounds somewhat like a small supercharger coming from under the hood. i have asked several people and get a lot of different explanations, some said its the K&N filter allowing more air in some have said it's the spacer, some have even said the throttlebody sensor is on it's way out and is doing it. but when i take the filter off a run the motor the sound is even louder.

any ideas?

thanks

Thier is a small hose that connects from the intake/throttle body to the plastic pipe that holds the Filter. Its about a 1 or 1.5" hose that has a sharp 90* bend in it. I cut mine about 1" shorter and made the bend less restrictive and that solved the problem for mine. I've alway's ment to take a pic of it, I'll see if I've got one on the computer.

Trucks looks great!!!!!!!

In the photo, cut 1" or so off of Hose 80411 untill the bend is less restrictive, and that should solve your problem.

Whistle

I just installed a PowerAid Throttle body spacer and the whistle came with it. The way it was explained to me is the spacer has spiral cut in it to create a swirling of air into the engine. What we are hearing is the swirling air. I hear my from 1800+ RPM.

A picture of one is here:

Same Problem

I also have he whistling noise but with the factory intake, is the 80411 hose used in the factory setup ?
The noise is loudest under light throttle conditions at about 2000 rpm
When I give it just a bit more gas the noise goes away.

I don't have the same truck, but i have had the whistle before, and so has my dad on his Dodge. Mine is gone now, his only does it when its cold. I think its just a design issue. With moving air, it doesnt take much of an inperfection to create a whistle. You ever breathed wrong and got a whistle out of your nose? Maybe a hair....maybe a boogie.....either way, it aint big. I think if there are any hoses with sharp bends in it, that might be an area to look into, could be a burr on something...either rubber, or metal.

mine does it too,i had the k&n and it whistled a little,so i cut the iac line and bent it better and it stopped, then i got the tb spacer,i knew the spiral thing was bs but i thought maybe just havin a spacer might give it some more power.anyway,it started whistlin again and i figured it was the spacer,i took it off after i got tired of hearin it,then put it back on after a few more months and it did it again, then i took it off one last time, and it still did it.i thought it was cause i lost one of the butterfly screws and only had one in it.but i put in a new screw when i ported the tb and it still does it.only does it at a certain rpm around 2500 or so.
