1762 undocumented code

1762 undocumented code

i have a 1998 explorer with the SOHC 4.0 v6. i used a snap on scanner under the generic OBDII setting and i had a "1762 undocumented code" i have had this one before and i just cleared it. does anyone know what this code is.

BIG,

All I see for "1762" is "transmission concern". Do you know a tranny guy? If not bring it to Ford for a diagnosis.

Hey J15BIG, heres the code definition

P1762 Transmission SSC/SS3/SSD/SS4/OD band failure. Failure of SSC/SS3, SSD/SS4 or the front band. No 2nd or 5th gear. Refer to Diagnosis by Symptom Index

Do you have any symptoms(missing/late shfts etc)?

TRANS

Also check the OD band adjustment. If the gear shift take to long(the PCM monitors how long it takes for the RPM to drop) this will set a code with no symptons.
