This had been discussed a while back in a thread that I had started, but instead of bringing the old one up, I figured I would post this in a new thread.

Blueovalnews has just posted that Ford has finally told their dealers how to fix the whine, (mine was fixed 4 months ago using the same proceedure). The fix is supposedly only for 2003 trucks built before Oct 2002, so I don't know if any other model year truck can get the same thing done or not.

It would be interesting to see if this works on any other model years. I would think that Ford would still be using the same PS pump in the 03's as previous years, but who knows. I would like to know how that procedure is done though.

 

Is this whine REALLY noticeable? I have what is described... 03 F150 Screw built before that date, however I cant hear the whine? Do the windows have to be down for you to hear it?

It was more noticable with the windows down, but I could still definately hear it with the windows up. I drove through the winter listening to it.

I would assume you don't have it if you haven't noticed it, it was very pronounced.
