Radiator Flush
Hello RLG,
The Owners Manual for my 2000 4x4 with a 5.4 says to change the coolant at 45,000 miles. The anti-freeze proprieties start to breaking down after that many miles. I would have the cooling system flushed. It's also a good idea to have the hoses and thermostat replaced after 4 years or 60,000 miles, the inner lining of the hoses can start coming apart and you can't see it from the outside.

I have a post in this board somewhere back in June. I had a coolant leak from a crack on the outside of a head. The word I got was the coolant had turned acidic and ate a hole in the head from cavitation action under the thermostat. Bootom line, change and flush regularlly, somewhat like you do a babies butt.
